Ukraine, Canada draw up contract for military vehicle supply

Ukraine is developing a contract with Canada for the supply of armored vehicles.

Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said this after a meeting with Canadian Minister of National Defense Harjit Sajjan in Toronto, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We met with the Minister of National Defense of Canada to discuss military cooperation, including the purchase of lethal weapons. We spoke about the latest armored vehicles and some components of weapons," Avakov said.

According to him, it may take several months to agree on all the details and reach final agreements. “We are talking about the specific modern weapons we need. I think that we will be able to discuss this in detail and sign a contract in two or three months,” the minister stressed.

The Ukraine Reform Conference takes place in Toronto on July 2- 4. Similar events took place in Copenhagen and London in 2018 and 2017, respectively. The main purpose of the conference is to familiarize international partners with Ukraine’s achievements in implementing systemic reforms, as well as outline further directions of cooperation and practical assistance to Ukraine on this path.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Canada together with a large government delegation headed by First Deputy Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv, as well as representatives of nonprofit and private sectors.
