55,000 women serving now in Ukrainian Armed Forces

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has recalled that the Defender of Ukraine Day is a holiday both for men and women who protect their homeland.
“Tomorrow we will celebrate the Defender of Ukraine Day. It ceased to be a gender-based holiday because 55,000 women now serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said, speaking at the Kherson State Maritime Academy, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
The President congratulated all the defenders of Ukraine on the upcoming holiday.
As a reminder, the Defender of Ukraine Day is celebrated on October 14.
