The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission calls on the sides to cease fire and create conditions for a safe passage for the civilian population across the contact line in Donbas.

"Entry-exit checkpoint in gov-ctrl Maiorsk remains closed since 23 Aug following armed violence in the area. The sides should cease fire and intensify their efforts to ensure safe and secure passage for civilians across the contact line #zerociviliancasualties," the OSCE SMM reported on Twitter.

As reported, the Maiorsk checkpoint has been closed since August 23 because of the shelling of Ukrainian positions by militants.
