The U.S. Congress plans to allocate $250 million in 2019 to assist Ukraine in the security sector, Ukraine's Embassy in the United States has reported.

"The Senate and the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress approved the draft National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019. The amount of funds allocated to the U.S. Department of Defense for the provision of security assistance to Ukraine is estimated at $250 million," the embassy said on Tuesday.

At the same time, the report notes that $50 million of this amount is to be allocated for lethal weapons.
