Payments to ATO servicemen increased to UAH 10,000

Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak has signed an order increasing payments to servicemen performing tasks in the area of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in Donbas.

Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesperson Maksym Prauta said this at a briefing on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"According to the order, additional payments for the personnel performing tasks in the first line of defense have been increased to UAH 10,000 [about $390] per month and for those in the second line to UAH 4,500 [about $175]. Servicemen will start getting these payments from September," the spokesman said.

Prauta said that the wages of soldiers, sergeants and senior officers of airmobile forces and marines had been increased by 15-20%.
