Poroshenko outlines tasks for police mission in Donbas
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this in an interview to Ukrainian TV channels, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"We stress that we have to deploy a new well-armed police mission. It will have to conduct effective monitoring of the contact line, so we know who violate the ceasefire, where and when. It will have to set permanent military posts in the place of withdrawal of tanks, artillery, mortars and heavy equipment, to seal them and to prevent illegal armed groups from reaching this military equipment. The mission will also have to set its observation posts at the uncontrolled area of the Ukrainian-Russian border to stop the supply of Russian troops and equipment," Poroshenko said.
He stressed that those posts might be taken up by the Ukrainian border guards only after the political settlement of the conflict.
