Prior to legal joining NATO, Ukraine should join the Alliance virtually via bringing the Ukrainian armed forces in line with its standards.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said this in an interview with the Uriadovyi Kurier Ukraine’s government newspaper.

"The issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO requires the coordinated decision of the Allies, hence it will take time. However, we can speed up time. We need to strengthen cooperation with the Alliance, and actually make the Ukrainian armed forces fully compliant with its criteria and standards," the PM said.

The PM is sure that it is the shortest and the fastest way to NATO.

The Prime Minister stressed, "Prior to legal joining NATO, Ukraine should join the Alliance virtually. This means that the Ukrainian armed forces must fully comply with logistics and standards of the Allies."

According to him, the Ukrainian servicemen should also have the required skills and get appropriate training.
