US to provide Ukraine with defensive weapons

US President Barack Obama during a meeting with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly said that he had signed a decree on providing Ukraine with new models of defensive weapons.
Petro Poroshenko said this in the interview with Ukrainian TV channels.
According to him, "it is a defensive weaponry like long range counterbattery stations that allow us to increase the efficiency of defensive capabilities of the Ukrainian troops".
"This is an unconditional diplomatic breakthrough of the Ukrainian side and I congratulate Ukrainian diplomats, Ukrainian forces, and Ukrainian people on this," Poroshenko noted.
