Sumy resident who shot at teenagers arrested without right to bail
This was reported by the Sumy Region Prosecutor's Office on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
“At the request of the investigator, approved by the head of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, Oleksandr Panchenko, on December 11, 2025, the court imposed a preventive measure in the form of 60 days in custody without bail on a 60-year-old Sumy resident who opened fire on teenagers,” the statement said.
According to reports, on December 9, 2025, in one of the courtyards of a high-rise building in Sumy, a resident of one of the apartments fired a targeted shot from a tenth-floor window at a group of six teenagers standing below his windows.
Initially, medics recorded injuries to four children, but later two more sought medical attention.
It is noted that the victims are children aged 13 to 16, including four girls and two boys. Currently, three children remain in the hospital, their lives are not in danger. The others are being treated on an outpatient basis.
Investigators have established that the suspect shot at the children with an IZH-43 smoothbore shotgun. The man was intoxicated at the time.
As reported, six teenagers were injured in a shooting in Sumy on the evening of December 9.
