SBU forwards indictment against 'Lutsk terrorist' to court
"The Security Service of Ukraine has completed a pretrial investigation in a criminal case against an armed terrorist who hijacked a bus with passengers in the center of Lutsk on July 21, 2020. During a special operation, SBU officers and the National Police released all hostages and detained the perpetrator," the report reads.
The man is charged with committing crimes under Part 2 of Article 147 (hostage-taking), Part 1 of Article 258 (terrorist attack), Part 1 of Article 259 (knowingly false report of a threat to the safety of citizens, destruction of or damage to property), Parts 1 and 2 of Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives), Part 1 of Article 280 (forcing a transport worker not to perform his/her official duties), Part 3 of Article 289 (hijacking a vehicle), Article 348 (encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer, a member of a public formation for the protection of public order and the state border or a serviceman) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Security investigators sent the materials of the relevant criminal proceedings to the court together with the indictment.
On July 21, 2020, Maksym Kryvosh, a resident of Volyn region, seized a Krasnylivka-Berestechko bus with 13 passengers in the center of Lutsk. Officers of the SBU's Special Operations Center and the National Police released hostages and detained the gunman.
