In January-October 2018, more than 122,000 road accidents were recorded on Ukrainian roads that caused 2,651 deaths.

Acting Head of the Patrol Police Department Oleksiy Biloshytskyi stated this at the national forum on road safety as part of the Road Safety Week, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“Over ten months of 2018, more than 122,000 road accidents were recorded, in which more than 19,000 people were injured. And, unfortunately, there were 2,651 deaths,” said Biloshytskyi.

He noted that when compared with previous years, there is a slight decrease in road traffic accident rates, however, it’s too early to talk about a sharp decrease in traffic accidents on the roads, in the context of such impressive figures. The acting head of the Patrol Police Department also added that drunk driving remains the main cause of road accidents.
