The National Police of Ukraine in 2017 adopted a number of measures aimed at implementing the Serious and Organised Crime Threat Assessment (SOCTA) project - a system for collecting, processing and summarizing information.

This issue was discussed during a meeting of Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and Secretary General of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) Jurgen Shtok, the ministry’s press service reports.

At the initiative of the EU Advisory Mission (EUAM), an interdepartmental working group has been established, consisting of representatives of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Interior Ministry and competent units of the National Police. Based on the results of group's activities, a strategy for implementing Socta methodology has been developed, and the procedure for creating a system for collecting information, processing and summarizing it using a modern analytical strategy, as well as a methodological guide for Socta have been discussed, taking into account the factors inherent in Ukraine.

"To ensure effective work of crime analysis units, it is necessary to create a unified information space, namely, an automated workplace for the analyst that will enable access to the databases of the National Police, Interior Ministry, state information registers, Interpol and Europol databases, geographic information system (GIS), and an opportunity to collect data from open sources of information. Regional departments are planned to be established at the main departments of the National Police of Ukraine in the regions, namely in four border regions of Ukraine within the framework of the pilot project," said Avakov.
