Slobodian: Some 36 border guards dismissed because of abuse of power

In the scope of the fight against official malfeasance, the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service has dismissed 36 officials since the beginning of the year.
Spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Oleh Slobodian said this at a briefing at Ukrinform on Thursday.
“Since the beginning of the year, 1,800 checks and investigations have been conducted by the State Border Guard Service. According to the results, some 36 people were dismissed, 2,420 servicemen have been brought to responsibility, and 390 people have been brought to administrative responsibility. A total of 147 people were moved to other posts,” Slobodian said.
According to him, information on 86 criminal cases against 96 people was entered in the Single State Register. Checks on abuse of office are still being conducted.
