Zelensky: 17 people killed and 44 injured in Kyiv and Kyiv region due to nighttime Russian attack
In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, 17 people were killed, and 44 were injured as a result of a massive Russian strike on the night of August 5.

According to Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky reported this on Telegram.

“As of now, 44 people have been reported injured in the massive Russian strike on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Another 17 people, tragically, were killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones,” the president emphasized.

As Zelensky noted, the Russians used 24 ballistic missiles, 4 Zircon/Onyx missiles, and 115 drones, a significant number of which were jet-powered.

The main targets of the attack were civilian warehouses; infrastructure and a railway station were also struck.

“These facilities had nothing to do with the war – a brewing company, construction materials warehouses, and civilian logistics facilities,” Zelensky noted.

As the president emphasized, ballistic missile interceptors are what could have saved the lives of those who died today.

“It is very important that our partners understand that delays in supplying them, or an unwillingness to provide anti-ballistic systems, lead directly to such horrific casualties and destruction. Partners who are not yet ready to play a more active role in supplying interceptors can help by implementing new sanctions. A significant share of Russia’s ballistic missile production is still not under sanctions. Even now. New steps are needed – from the G7, the European Union, and everyone who supports the protection of life,” Zelensky stated.

As reported by Ukrinform, starting on the evening of August 4, Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with four Zircon/Onyx anti-ship missiles, 24 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, and 115 combat UAVs. Air Defense Forces neutralized 98 enemy drones.
