The announcement was made by Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Syniehubov during a press conference, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We have completed the installation of anti-drone protection along the Kharkiv ring road, and we are now considering how to reopen traffic. We continue to advise civilians that the northern part of Kharkiv remains dangerous for travel. If possible, people should use alternative routes. However, we have fulfilled our task: the sections that needed protection and where we had problem areas have now been fully secured," Syniehubov said.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said that Russian forces carried out 35 strikes across five districts of the city last week. Kharkiv was attacked with guided aerial bombs, multiple launch rocket systems, Shahed drones, Italmas drones, Banderol loitering munitions, and FPV drones, including fiber-optic-controlled models. Russian forces have also continued targeting fuel stations, in some cases striking the same locations repeatedly.

"Their objective is perfectly clear – to spread panic, paralyze logistics, and damage the economy. Overall, the enemy is openly pursuing a strategy of attrition. They combine different types of weapons, strike several districts in a single day, and cynically return to locations they have already destroyed," the Mayor said.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, in the morning of May 21, Russian forces attacked a moving truck with an FPV drone on the Kharkiv ring road, killing the 40-year-old driver.

Following the attack, a section of the ring road – the M-03 highway between kilometer markers 491 and 501, stretching from Feldman Ecopark to the Lyptsi intersection – was closed to traffic.

On June 3, Syniehubov said the section could reopen in approximately 10 days, but it remains closed.

On June 20, a Russian FPV drone struck a civilian vehicle in the Piatykhatky neighborhood of Kharkiv's Kyivskyi district, killing a 48-year-old man and injuring a 38-year-old woman.
