Ukraine’s forces hit Russian minesweeper, two warships in Novorossiysk port attack
This information was confirmed to Ukrinform by a source within the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU).
“On the night of March 2, the SSU together with Ukraine’s Defense Forces hit the sea minesweeper Valentin Pikul. The anti-submarine ships Yeysk and Kasimov also suffered serious damage,” the source said.
In addition, three Russian sailors were killed and 14 others were wounded, according to the source.
During the attack, a 30N6E2 fire-control radar of the S-300PMU-2 Favorit system, a Pantsir-S2 missile-and-gun air defense system, and six of seven oil-loading standers at the Sheskharis oil terminal were also hit. A fire at the port lasted throughout the night, the security service recalled.
“The SSU is systematically reaching the enemy where it believes itself to be safe – in ports, at bases, and deep in the rear. There are no ‘safe zones’ for Russian military facilities. As long as Russia wages war against Ukraine, it will find no peace anywhere – at sea, on land, or in the rear,” the SSU source said.
As previously reported, on March 2, drones operated by the Alpha Special Operations Center of the SSU, together with other components of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, attacked military and oil-related targets in the Russian port of Novorossiysk, which are involved in the war against Ukraine.
