Damage from air pollution caused by war exceeds UAH 146B in Kherson region
According to Ukrinform, the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southern District stated this on Telegram.
"The State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southern District continues its systematic work to document the negative impact of armed aggression on the environment," the statement said.
It is noted that from February 24, 2022, to early February 2026, inspectors assessed the damage caused to atmospheric air in the Kherson region as a result of shelling and fires triggered by hostilities. The total recorded damage amounts to more than UAH 146,203,127,000.
According to the Inspectorate, all collected materials and completed calculations have been handed over to law enforcement agencies to be added to criminal proceedings, and have also been submitted to the Operational Headquarters under the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine for further response and appropriate measures.
As Ukrinform previously reported, as of early April 2024, damage in the Kherson region caused by air pollution due to the war amounted to nearly UAH 145 billion.
