Massive Russian attack causes significant power outages in five regions – Ukrenergo
According to Ukrinform, Ukraine's national power grid operator Ukrenergo stated this on Facebook.
"At night, the enemy attacked energy infrastructure in several regions. As a result, as of the morning there are de-energized consumers in Sumy, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Emergency restoration work is already underway wherever security conditions allow," the statement said.
It is noted that electricity consumption as of 09:30 on Wednesday exceeded the previous day's level by 5.2%. Ukrenergo links this to a decrease in the number of consumers who remain without electricity due to Russian strikes, as well as a reduction in the scope of power outages in certain regions.
Due to the difficult situation in the energy system caused by Russian shelling, emergency power outages are being applied in some regions. In the remaining regions, capacity restriction schedules for industry and hourly outage schedules for households are in effect.
Due to severe weather conditions, as of the morning 16 settlements in the Odesa region were fully or partially without electricity.
"The need for energy conservation remains in all regions of Ukraine throughout the entire day. Please limit the use of high-power electrical appliances as much as possible. If possible, shift energy-intensive processes to nighttime hours, after 23:00," Ukrenergo added.
As reported, power engineers restored electricity supply to 100,000 consumers in Kyiv after the February 3 attack, and emergency outages in the city's left-bank districts have been lifted.
