Frontline sees sharp rise in Russian assaults: 180 clashes since morning

Since the start of the day, there have already been 180 combat clashes between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Russian troops, with the heaviest attacks continuing in the Pokrovsk sector. Increased enemy activity has also been observed in the Huliaipole and Oleksandrivka sectors.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, providing operational information as of 16:00 on Thursday, January 29, Ukrinform reports.

Russian forces carried out artillery strikes in the areas of Khrinivka in the Chernihiv region; Kucherivka, Rohizne, Studenka, Budky, Bezsalivka, Yastrubshchyna, Iskryskivshchyna, and Ryzhivka in the Sumy region.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, the enemy attempted seven offensives and carried out 37 shelling attacks, including two from multiple-launch rocket systems.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Russian forces launched 11 attacks near Vovchansk, Starytsia, Tykhe, and towards Ternova, Hrafske, Vovchanski Khutory, Hryhorivka, and Kolodiazne.

In the Kupiansk sector, ten clashes occurred, five of which are ongoing. The enemy is attempting to advance near Borivska Andriivka and towards Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, Pishchane, and Novoosynove.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled nine enemy attacks in the areas of Drobysheve, Stepy, Hrekivka, and towards Druzheliubivka and Stavky.

In the Sloviansk sector, Russian troops attempted twice to advance towards Zakitne. One clash continues.

In the Kramatorsk sector, no enemy offensive actions were reported.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, Russians conducted 15 offensive actions near Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, Rusyn Yar, and towards Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, Berestka, Stepanivka, and Sofiivka. One attack is ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian forces made 77 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders in the areas of Toretske, Nikanorivka, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Rivne, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Novomykolaivka, and towards Kucherov Yar, Vilne, Bilytske, Novyi Donbas, Hryshyne, Novopidhorodnie, Muravka, Ivanivka, and Filiia. Ukrainian forces have already repelled 65 of these attacks.

In the Oleksandrivka sector, the aggressor attacked 19 times near Verbove and towards Ivanivka, Iskra, Oleksandrohrad, Oleksiivka, Danylivka, and Nove Zaporizhzhia. Havrylivka suffered a guided-bomb airstrike.

In the Huliaipole sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 25 enemy attacks near Huliaipole and towards Dobropillia, Radisne, Varvarivka, Zelene, Pryluky, Zaliznychne, Olenokostantynivka, Sviatopetrivka, and Staroukrainka. Additionally, enemy aircraft struck Verkhnia Tersa. Nine clashes continue.

In the Orikhiv sector, the enemy attacked twice towards Lukianivske and Pavlivka.

In the Prydniprovske sector, Ukrainian forces repelled an enemy attack towards the Antonivskyi Bridge.

No significant changes were reported in other sectors of the front.

As previously reported, according to the General Staff, during the last week, 46 to 66 clashes were recorded daily as of 16:00.

On January 28, 117 combat clashes between Ukrainian forces and Russian invaders were reported.
