Zelensky explains why Ukraine is not sending troops to Greenland
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a conversation with journalists, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
Responding to a question about whether Ukraine would send its military to Greenland for training if Denmark requested it, the president said: “We are at war, all our military personnel are at the front. You know, the issue of the military is definitely a pressing one today. Especially during a full-scale war.”
He added that Ukraine has good relations with Denmark, but the Danish leadership has not asked Kyiv to send troops to Greenland for training.
“I think it's because everyone understands that Ukraine is not in NATO,” the president emphasized.
As reported earlier, France, Germany, Great Britain, and other European countries sent small groups of military personnel to Greenland at Denmark's request.
US President Donald Trump announced that tariffs will be imposed on Denmark, Great Britain, Norway, France, Germany, Finland, and the Netherlands from February 1 if they oppose the US acquisition of Greenland.
Trump claims Greenland is vital to US security due to its strategic location and mineral deposits, and does not rule out the use of force to control it, sparking concern in Europe over the prospect of confrontation among NATO member states.
