Shelling of central Kherson: Russians hit cafe; three killed, two injured

Three civilians were killed and two others injured in the downtown area of Kherson as a result of Russian shelling.

According to Ukrinform, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported this on Telegram.

"At around 12:30, the Russians attacked the central part of Kherson. As a result of the shelling, two men were killed. Three more residents of Kherson were also injured. They are currently in hospital and receiving the necessary medical care," he wrote.

Later, Prokudin reported that one of the injured died in hospital following the Russian shelling of the city center at 12:30.

Thus, as confirmed to the agency by the RMA press service, there are currently three civilians killed and two injured.

According to the regional prosecutor's office, on January 8, 2026, at around 12:20, Russian troops struck one of the cafe premises in Kherson with artillery fire. A pretrial investigation has been launched into a war crime that resulted in loss of life.
