Over 33,000 civilians remain in active combat zones in Donetsk region
This was reported during an online briefing by Dmytro Petlin, Head of the Department of the Operational Duty Service, Communications, Alerting and Public Information at the Department for Civil Protection, Mobilization and Defense Affairs of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“As for communities classified as territories of active combat operations – there are 21 such communities – 33,600 civilians remain there, including 248 children,” Petlin said.
According to him, since February 2022 more than 1,322,800 people have been evacuated from settlements in the Donetsk region under Ukrainian government control, including over 202,500 children and more than 47,000 people with disabilities.
Over the past week, 290 people have left the Donetsk region for safer areas, including 38 children.
Currently, 192,600 civilians remain in Ukrainian-controlled areas of the Donetsk region, including 12,400 children, the regional administration official noted.
As reported, mandatory evacuation of civilians in the Donetsk region has been ongoing since August 2, 2022.
