War update: 95 combat engagements recorded since morning; Pokrovsk, Huliaipole sectors most active

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this on Facebook, publishing operational information as of 16:00 on Sunday, January 4, according to Ukrinform.

Border settlements came under artillery fire from the territory of the Russian Federation, including Ryzhivka, Velyka Bereza, Iskryskivshchyna, and Hirky in the Sumy region.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, the enemy carried out 58 shelling attacks, including one using multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian soldiers repelled three enemy attacks in the areas of Vovchansk, Starytsia, Prylipka, and toward Izbytske. Three more combat engagements are ongoing.

In the Kupiansk sector, since the start of the day the enemy has made three attempts to advance near Stepova Novoselivka and toward Hlushkivka and Petropavlivka; fighting continues.

In the Lyman sector, the invading army attacked five times near the settlements of Novoselivka, Kolodiazne, and Torske.

In the Sloviansk sector, the Defense Forces repelled an enemy attack near Dronivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, one Russian offensive action toward Stupochky was recorded.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, Ukrainian forces stopped 13 enemy offensive actions in the areas of Pleshchiivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Rusyn Yar, Yablunivka, and toward Sofiivka. One combat engagement is still ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk sector, since the start of the day the invaders have made 38 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near the settlements of Shakhove, Nykanorivka, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and toward Novopavlivka. The Defense Forces are holding back the enemy’s pressure and have already repelled 33 attacks.

In the Oleksandrivka sector, the enemy attacked 17 times in the areas of Oleksandrohrad, Sosnivka, Vorone, Oleksiivka, Vyshneve, Solodke, and Yehorivka. Five combat engagements are still ongoing. Velykomykhailivka was struck by glide bombs.

In the Huliaipole sector, the Defense Forces repelled 25 Russian attacks in the areas of Zelene, Huliaipole, Varvarivka, Dorozhnianka, and toward Sviatopetrivka, Zaliznychne, and Dobropillia. Ten more clashes are ongoing.

In the Orikhiv sector, five combat engagements have taken place so far near Mala Tokmachka, Shcherbaky, and Stepove. The settlements of Orikhiv and Preobrazhenka were hit by enemy guided bomb strikes.

In the Prydniprovske sector, no combat engagements have been recorded so far.

In other areas of the front, the situation has not changed significantly.

As reported earlier, the Defense Forces of Ukraine are holding the line within the boundaries of Rodynske of the Pokrovsk urban community and on its approaches.
