Glide bomb strike on Kharkiv: two killed, injury toll rises to eight

The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, stated this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"One man was killed at the scene, another died in an ambulance. According to updated information, there are eight injured, including a 9-month-old girl," Syniehubov said.

The fatalities were identified as a 55-year-old and a 40-year-old man, the administration clarified.

Some of the injured suffered acute stress reactions, while a 20-year-old woman, a 73-year-old woman, and the 9-month-old girl sustained blast injuries and were hospitalized.

According to the Regional Military Administration, the enemy launched three guided aerial bombs at the Kharkiv community. Two of them fell outside the city, with impact sites and consequences still being assessed, while another guided bomb struck one of the city's central roads. "There are no military facilities here — only civilian residential buildings. State Emergency Service units and law enforcement officers are inspecting the damaged buildings. The immediate priority is to identify people who may still need assistance," Syniehubov emphasized.

Dozens of apartment blocks and private houses were damaged.

"We are analyzing the scale of the destruction. Next, together with volunteer organizations, we will begin the rapid elimination of the consequences, including boarding up shattered windows to preserve warmth in people's homes," he said.

As reported earlier, on December 26 Russian troops carried out guided aerial bomb strikes on Kharkiv and its suburbs. One of the city's busiest thoroughfares was hit. As a result of the shelling, nearby buildings were damaged and cars caught fire. Initially, two people were reported killed and four injured, including an infant.
