Containers with flour and oil catch fire at port of Pivdennyi due to Russian shelling
This was reported on Telegram by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine - Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksii Kuleba, Ukrinform reports.
“A fire broke out in the Pivdennyi port as a result of the strike, with about 30 containers of flour and vegetable oil catching fire. Port workers and all relevant services are working on site, and the aftermath is being dealt with,” Kuleba wrote.
According to him, due to damage to the energy infrastructure, more than 120,000 subscribers in the Odesa region remain without electricity.
Emergency crews have already begun restoration work. Critical infrastructure facilities are connected to alternative power sources, and the region is provided with heat and water supply.
At the same time, restoration work is continuing in the Zhytomyr region, where damage to the railway infrastructure has been reported. Two train drivers were injured and are receiving the necessary medical assistance from specialists.
“Specialists are working on site. Ukrzaliznytsia is taking all necessary measures to restore the section as soon as possible and return trains to their schedule,” he added.
As reported, the derailment of a freight train near the city of Korosten in the Zhytomyr region was probably caused by the detonation of a drone. The investigation is ongoing.
