Authorities report suspicion against doctor who demanded money from wounded serviceman
According to Ukrinform, this was announced by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
Under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv’s Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office, suspicion was reported against a trauma surgeon at one of Kyiv's municipal hospitals who assessed his assistance to a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, hospitalized with severe injuries sustained near Avdiivka, at UAH 30,000.
It was established that before performing the surgery to install the Ilizarov external fixation orthopedic device, the trauma surgeon repeatedly emphasized that the intervention was complex and that his work required additional payment.
After the operation, while the patient was in a postoperative condition, the doctor provided him with a bank card number to which UAH 30,000 had to be transferred, which the serviceman was forced to pay. The suspect's actions were classified under Part 3 of Article 368-4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely as the receipt of an undue benefit by a person engaged in professional activity.
The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is being decided.
As Ukrinform previously reported, officers of the State Bureau of Investigation detained a former head of one of the district territorial recruitment and social support centers in Donetsk region who, for bribes, helped servicemen flee military units in Sumy region.
