Zelensky: If Ukraine does not receive tranche in spring, drone production can be reduced
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this during a press conference in Brussels, which was broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Office of the President; Ukrinform provided a live relay.
Answering a question about the possible consequences for Ukraine if it fails to receive a tranche under the reparations loan framework in the spring, Zelensky said: “If this tranche does not come through, drone production in Ukraine will be reduced severalfold.”
The President noted that Ukraine and Russia currently maintain a certain parity on the battlefield in the use of low-cost drones; however, without funding, the Defense Forces will have “far fewer” drones. Ukraine’s long-range capabilities would also be reduced.
Zelensky emphasized that if the war continues, Ukraine would primarily use these funds for drone production, while in the event of peace, the resources would be directed toward recovery.
As reported by Ukrinform, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is in Brussels, where a meeting of the European Council is taking place. Today in Brussels, the issue of transferring frozen Russian assets to Ukraine is expected to be decided.
