AFU General Staff confirms strike on major Russian oil refinery in Yaroslavl

The General Staff reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

“As part of efforts to reduce the enemy’s offensive potential and disrupt fuel and ammunition supplies to Russian military units, Ukrainian Defense Forces targeted the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in Yaroslavl,” the statement said.

The Yaroslavl refinery is one of Russia’s largest, with a processing capacity of up to 15 million tons of oil and condensate per year. It plays a key role in supplying the Russian Armed Forces.

Explosions and a large fire were reported at the site. The extent of the damage is being assessed.

In addition, to further degrade the enemy’s offensive capabilities, Ukrainian forces struck an ammunition depot near the village of Avdiivske (formerly Pervomaiske) and concentrations of Russian troops near Myrnohrad and Rodynske in Donetsk region. Casualties and damage are being determined.

The Ukrainian General Staff emphasized that its forces will continue measures to reduce the offensive potential of Russian troops and compel Russia to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine.

As reported by Ukrinform, on the night of December 12, drones targeted Yaroslavl, northeast of Moscow, striking the Slavneft-YANOS refinery, one of the five largest refineries in Russia.
