CinC Syrskyi: Ukraine’s strategy aims to wear down Russian forces
Commander‑in‑Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated this in an interview with Sky News, Ukrinform reports.
“Our strategy is to exhaust the Russian army as much as possible, prevent its advance, hold our territory, while simultaneously striking the enemy in the near rear, the operational depth, and… into Russia itself, with the aim of undermining its defense capability and industrial capacity,” Syrskyi said.
According to him, the Russian army is currently attempting to advance along almost the entire frontline.
“The Ukrainian army is conducting a strategic defensive operation, aiming to contain the enemy's advance, prevent them from breaking deeper, inflict maximum losses, and carry out counter-offensive actions in those sectors where we see the enemy is vulnerable,” the commander said.
When asked whether the Ukrainian army has sufficient manpower and whether it is ready to continue combat operations if necessary, Syrskyi gave an affirmative answer.
“We have the resources to continue military operations,” he said.
The Commander‑in‑Chief also emphasized that giving up Ukraine’s territory is unacceptable.
“Naturally, for us it is unacceptable to simply give up territory. What does it even mean – to hand over our land? This is precisely why we are fighting; so, we do not give up our territory,” Syrskyi stressed.
As reported by Ukrinform, Commander‑in‑Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that in the area of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, Ukrainian units are actively blocking Russian attempts to accumulate assault infantry groups and advance around these cities.
