We strengthen 'Patriot' component of Ukrainian air defense – Zelensky

Ukrinform
Germany has met its commitments to enhance Ukraine's air defense by providing Patriot surface-to-air missile systems.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

"We have strengthened the 'Patriot' component of our Ukrainian air defense. I thank Germany and personally Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz for this joint step to protect human lives from Russian terror. For some time, we have been preparing this reinforcement of our air defense, and now the agreements reached have been implemented," Zelensky said.

He expressed gratitude to everyone who helped make it happen.

Air strikes, he emphasized, are the main bet of Russian leader Vladimir Putin in this war. Through terror, the Russian dictator "tries to compensate for his inability to achieve his insane goals on the ground."

"Therefore, every strengthening of our air defense literally brings us closer to the end of the war that we are all waiting for. The less Russia achieves, the greater its motivation will be to end the war," he stated.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine continues to work with its partners to build a reliable air defense system.

"Our capabilities will be able to guarantee security not only for Ukraine, but also for our partners when needed. Our security is indivisible – which means our air defense must protect all of us. Talks on further joint steps to strengthen air defense are ongoing – both at the governmental level and directly with the manufacturers of the necessary systems. Further results will follow," he said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the German Aid to Ukraine project previously stated that Ukraine would receive two Patriot air defense systems from Germany in the coming days.
