Russian forces attempt to create “kill zones” for future assaults — Voloshyn

Colonel Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Southern  Defense Forces, reported this on television, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

“The enemy is trying to create a ‘kill zone’ — an area where no buildings, shelters, or fortifications are left standing — to later carry out assault operations in that direction and attempt to move forward. This tactic is being used almost everywhere,” Voloshyn said.

According to him, Russian forces in southern Ukraine have had no significant success for nearly three years.

“The line of contact remains unchanged. That is why the Russian military command has decided to destroy all structures and infrastructure in frontline towns and villages,” the spokesperson explained.

Voloshyn added that the enemy has significantly increased the number of guided aerial bombs, artillery strikes, and kamikaze drone attacks.

“Practically every day, the enemy intensifies kamikaze drone strikes and artillery fire, using more ammunition and continuing assault actions. Several such assaults took place over the past day, and as of today, the enemy is again conducting attacks in one of the directions,” Voloshyn noted.

He also reported that Russian troops continue to heavily shell settlements near the front line.

“In the past 24 hours alone, we recorded about thirty strikes and attacks on settlements. In addition, the enemy carried out more than 260 artillery strikes on our positions, using over 1,100 rounds of ammunition,” he said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, in southern Ukraine, the enemy tends to reduce the use of drones during periods of bad weather but intensifies artillery and assault operations.
