The Odesa-Tolyatti ammonia pipeline has been damaged as a result of Russian artillery shelling in Donetsk region.

That is according to a Facebook statement by the Support Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reports Ukrinform.

“At around 11:00 on October 9, 2025, preliminary reports indicate that equipment at a satellite sectional post on the main branch of the Odesa-Tolyatti ammonia pipeline was damaged by Russian artillery fire,” the statement said.

The command noted that since the transport of liquid ammonia through the pipeline was halted in 2014, only a small amount of technical ammonia remains in the damaged section.

As of 12:00 on October 10, according to Ukrainian Defense Forces units operating in the area, no deterioration in air quality or ammonia odor has been detected. Because the site of the damage lies along the active combat line, preliminary inspection is not possible. Therefore, data are being collected through drone-based monitoring by units specializing in radiological, chemical, and biological reconnaissance.

“Given repeated incidents of damage to the ammonia pipeline, commanders at all levels have implemented effective measures to protect personnel operating in potentially contaminated environments. The current situation is not expected to significantly affect the performance of defense operations,” the Support Forces Command reported.
