Russia can produce up to 2,700 strike drones per month - intelligence
This was reported by Andriy Yusov, a press representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, according to Ukrinform, citing Radio Liberty.
“They have increased production of the Geran-2, which is a standard Shahed... With this modification and combat unit, they can now produce up to 2,700 per month,” Yusov said.
He added that in addition to attack drones, the enemy is manufacturing a significant number of drones that are “decoys” and do not have combat units.
“We see hundreds of Shaheds in combined attacks along with missiles. Massive strikes are a significant challenge for our air defense and missile defense forces. And it is also a challenge for our partners who are supposed to help us defend Ukrainian airspace,” said the intelligence press representative.
As reported, in July, the Russian Ministry of Defense showed on its Zvezda TV channel the various stages of the production process for the Geran-2 drones, which are the Russian version of the Iranian Shahed-136 kamikaze drone. In the video, an employee of the plant in Yelabuga said that the enterprise can produce up to a thousand drones per shift.
On September 4, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that the Defense Forces are continuing to work on building up their capabilities to counter Shahed strike drones. He emphasized that Ukraine is creating a layered system to counter enemy Shahed and Geran drones.
