Fire at ammunition storage site in Mykolaiv region causes isolated explosions
According to Ukrinform, Ukraine's Southern Defense Forces reported this on Telegram.
"On July 7, at around 10:00, a fire erupted at an ammunition storage facility in one of the communities in the Mykolaiv region. The cause of the fire is being investigated, but preliminary information suggests it was not the result of enemy shelling. It likely began due to the ignition of dry grass. Sporadic detonations are ongoing," the statement reads.
Emergency response units from Ukraine's State Emergency Service are at the scene.
"Firefighters are making every effort to extinguish the blaze. The source of the fire has been contained. The storage site is located outside populated areas. There is no threat to local residents, but we urge everyone to remain in safe locations," the statement said.
A military commission has been formed to conduct a thorough investigation, determine the cause of the incident, and assess the responsibility of any officials whose actions or negligence may have led to the fire.
"Every piece of equipment and supply is vital to preserving the lives and health of our soldiers on the front line," the statement added.
