Polish volunteer killed fighting in Ukraine

A 45-year-old Polish volunteer, journalist Krzysztof Gorzelak, was killed on the front lines in Ukraine while fighting against Russian aggression.

His death was reported by a local Facebook community from the city of Kielce in southern Poland, where Gorzelak was born, Ukrinform reports.

"Yesterday, Krzysztof Gorzelak — a resident of Kielce, journalist, and founder of the Nasze Kielce news portal — was killed. He was 45 years old. Nearly two years ago, he made the decision to go to Ukraine to fight against Russian aggression. He left behind his mother, father, brother, and daughter in Kielce," the post reads.

Gorzelak was remembered as a principled and incorruptible journalist for whom truth was paramount. He had conducted investigations into abuses of power in the city and region.

It is reported that Gorzelak will be buried in Ukraine.
