
Türkiye ready to host next round of Ukraine-Russia talks – Fidan
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made the announcement at a press conference following his meeting in Moscow with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“The Russian-Ukrainian war, of course, was a key topic in my discussions in Moscow… We welcome the recent prisoner exchange and continue preparations to address other important issues… Türkiye stands ready to provide comprehensive support for peace negotiations,” Fidan stated.
The Turkish foreign minister also shared details about the key issues discussed during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Fidan stated that during their meeting with President Putin, they had addressed several key issues of significance to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He emphasized the importance of ongoing negotiations between Russia and Ukraine yielding tangible results. He mentioned that they had discussed previous meetings held in Istanbul and shared their vision for future talks in Türkiye. He also reaffirmed his side’s readiness to contribute in any way possible.
In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Russia sees "European attempts to undermine the negotiation process."
"Türkiye and the United States support the peace process. We are ready to resume peace talks… We can once again turn to our Turkish friends for the next round of negotiations with Ukraine," Lavrov said.
As reported by Ukrinform, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who is currently visiting Russia, may travel to Ukraine in the near future.
