Kyiv, seven regions hit overnight by Russian attack – Zelensky

This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“It was a difficult night for all of Ukraine — 250 strike drones, the absolute majority of them Iranian "Shaheds," and 14 ballistic missiles. Odesa, Vinnytsia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kyiv, Dnipro regions suffered damages. All strikes targeted civilians. There are fatalities. My condolences to the families and loved ones,” Zelensky wrote.

He added that, in Kyiv, explosive experts are currently neutralizing parts of Russian missiles and drones. Rescue operations and emergency services are ongoing at the sites of strikes and debris impacts.

“With each such attack, the world becomes more certain that the cause of prolonging the war lies in Moscow. Ukraine has proposed a ceasefire many times — both a full one and one in the skies. It all has been ignored. It is clear that far stronger pressure must be imposed on Russia to get results and launch real diplomacy,” Zelensky emphasized.

The President called for additional sanctions from the U.S., Europe, and all of Ukraine’s partners.

“Only additional sanctions targeting key sectors of the Russian economy will force Moscow to cease fire. I thank everyone who helps and supports us,” he added.

As previously reported, the Russian attack damaged residential buildings in three districts of Kyiv, as well as a shopping and entertainment center and an educational institution.

Ukraine’s air defense forces shot down six Russian ballistic missiles Iskander-M/KN-23 that were aimed at Kyiv, and neutralized 245 out of 250 drones launched during the attack.
