The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets welcomed the statement of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk and called for a prompt and independent investigation of the Russian missile strike on Kryvyi Rih.

According to Ukrinform, the ombudsman reported this in Telegram.

According to Lubinets, this is a principled and extremely important position of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, which actually recognizes that the attack of the Russian armed forces on Kryvyi Rih may constitute a war crime, so the actions of the Russian Federation must be urgently investigated.

“Russia's missile attack on Kryvyi Rih is an example of cynical and indiscriminate cruelty. The UN representatives confirm the absence of any obvious military objects in the area. This once again demonstrates Russia's deliberate and gross violation of international humanitarian law,” the Ombudsman emphasized.

The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights supported the call for a prompt, independent and effective investigation.

“Such actions should have not only a moral, but also a clear legal assessment - as war crimes. The international community must show that crimes against civilians do not go unpunished,” emphasized Lubinets and stressed that justice is not only a principle, it is a duty. The world has no right to remain silent when children are killed.
