General Staff: Russia struck Sudzha gas metering station to discredit Ukraine

Ukrinform
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has dismissed Russia's accusations that Ukrainian forces attacked the Sudzha gas metering station, calling them baseless.

The General Staff made this statement on its official Facebook page, according to Ukrinform.

Russia continues its disinformation campaign against Ukraine, falsely accusing Ukrainian forces of striking the Sudzha gas metering station.

"These accusations are baseless. In reality, this station has been repeatedly shelled by the Russians themselves. Last summer, it was bombed with guided aerial bombs, and just three days ago, Russian forces targeted it again with guided aerial bombs," the General Staff said.

Today, Russia escalated its planned disinformation efforts with another provocation -- shelling the station with artillery.

According to the General Staff, Russian troops have previously used the main gas pipeline as cover for covert troop movements.

The Ukrainian military stressed that Russia continues to spread false narratives to mislead the international community. They urged people to rely only on official sources, verify information, and avoid falling for manipulative tactics.

Earlier reports said that Russian propagandists are attempting to frame Ukraine for war crimes actually committed by the Kremlin regime.

Russian media have been circulating a report from occupied Sudzha in Russia's Kursk region, allegedly produced by Finnish journalist Kosti Heiskanen. The report claims Ukrainian troops have committed atrocities against civilians, suffered "heavy losses," and disguised themselves in civilian clothing or Russian military uniforms -- violating the laws of war.
