As Ukrinform reported, an explosion rocked a residential complex in Moscow on Monday, February 3; according to tentative reports, the founder of the Arbat special forces battalion, Armen Sarkisyan (also known as Armen Gorlovsky), may be among those killed in the incident.

Sarkisyan is the president of the so-called “DPR”’s boxing federation, also known as the leader of the "separate special forces battalion" Arbat, formally subordinate to the Redut PMC, controlled by the Russian Ministry of Defense, who participated in the Russian invasion of Ukraine alongside the regular army.

In Ukraine, he is also suspected of organizing the groups of pro-government thugs who assaulted protesters at the Maidan rallies in Kyiv in 2014.

In December 2024, based on the inquiry by the Security Service and National Police, Armen Sarkisyan (aka Armen Horlivsky), a mob boss from Donetsk region during the rule of now-fugitive ex-president Viktor Yanukovych, who recruited prisoners for the war against Ukraine, was charged in absentia.

According to Ukraine’s counterintelligence, initially the Arbat unit fought in the Toretsk axis before being transferred to Russia’s Kursk region to storm the positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
