Drone attack on Sumy injures seven, including child

A drone attack on a residential high-rise in Sumy has left seven civilians injured, including a child, as rescue efforts continue.

The National Police of the Sumy region reported the attack on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

"Last night, an enemy drone attacked a residential high-rise building in Sumy. As a result of a UAV strike, seven civilians were injured, including a child. A ten-story residential building was damaged," the post said.

Emergency services, including investigative teams and explosives experts, remain at the scene, assisting victims and assessing damage. A response headquarters has been set up in the building's courtyard for affected residents seeking help.

Law enforcement officers have launched a criminal investigation under Article 438 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, which addresses violations of the laws and customs of war.

Meanwhile, city officials refuted an earlier claim by Volodymyr Artiukh, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, that one person had died in the attack. "Reports of a fatality have not been confirmed," the Sumy City Council stated on Telegram.

Among the injured are a seven-year-old child and an 18-year-old man in serious condition.
