War update: Over 40 combat clashes reported
This is stated in the morning summary by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reports Ukrinform.
Over 40 combat clashes took place in the past day. At the same time, Ukraine’s Defense Forces pursue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, getting entrenched in the gained positions and engaging in counter-battery action.
"In the past day, Ukraine’s Air Force delivered two strikes targeting enemy command and control points, 10 strikes on manpower clusters, and two on the enemy's anti-aircraft missile systems. Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian missile and artillery units hit two Russian anti-aircraft missile systems, a manpower cluster, and four artillery systems in firing positions," the military said.
Also tonight, the Russian Federation launched another missile attack on Ukraine. Information regarding the consequences of the terrorist attack is currently being clarified.
Over the past 24 hours, the enemy has launched five missile attacks and 45 airstrikes, as well as 67 attacks involving MLR systems, on the positions of Ukrainian troops and on populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, civilian casualties were reported. Residential buildings, schools, and other civil infrastructure were destroyed.
The likelihood of Russia launching more missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.
On the Volyn and Polissia axes, the operational situation has not changed significantly.
On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes, Russian mortar and artillery attacks targeted more than 25 settlements, including Khrinivka and Kliusy, Chernihiv region; Kruzhok, Volfine, Basivka, Turia, Hrabovske, and Riasne, Sumy region, and Rublene, Ambarne, and Bolohivka, Kharkiv region.
In the direction of Kupiansk, the settlements of Dvorichna, Synkivka, Ivanivka, Kislivka, and Topoli, Kharkiv region, were subjected to Russian enemy artillery and mortar attacks.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the Novoyehorivka area, Luhansk region. Their airstrikes targeted Novoyehorivka, Tverdokhlibove, Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, and Spirne, Donetsk region. More than 15 settlements, including Kreminna, Kuzmine, and Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, and Torske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka, Donetsk region, were hit by enemy artillery.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy carried out fruitless offensive attempts in the districts of Orikhovo-Vasylivka and Klishchiivka, Donetsk region. Russian airstrikes targeted the areas of Klishchiivka, Bila Hora, and New York, Donetsk region. Over 20 settlements, including Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Stupochky, Andriivka, and Kurdiumivka, Donetsk region, were affected by enemy artillery fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy undertook unsuccessful offensive attempts in the area of Stepove, Donetsk region. Over 10 settlements, including Keramik, Novobakhmutivka, Orlivka, Tonenke, and Netaylove, Donetsk region, came under Russian artillery fire.
In the Marinka direction, Ukraine’s defense forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops. The enemy carried out an airstrike in the Krasnohorivka area, Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements, including Kurakhivka, Oleksandropil, Hostre, Marinka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region, were hit by Russian artillery fire.
In the Shakhtarske direction, enemy airstrikes hit the areas of Vuhledar and Staromaiorske, Donetsk region. Over 15 settlements, including Vuhledar, Vodiane, Shakhtarske, Blahodatne, Urozhaine, and Rivnopil, Donetsk region, were affected by enemy artillery fire.
In the direction of Zaporizhzhia, the enemy conducted a series of airstrikes targeting the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv, and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. More than 20 settlements, including Staroukrainka, Huliaipilske, Orikhiv, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region, were subjected to Russian artillery shelling.
On the Kherson axis, Olhivka, Odradokamianka, Mykolaivka, Kherson, Yantarne, and Dniprovske were hit by enemy artillery.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, referring to the General Staff, from February 24, 2022 to August 26, 2023, Ukraine eliminated 260,270 Russian invaders.
