AFU set up small bridgeheads on Russian-held east bank of Dnipro – UK intel
The UK Defense Ministry said this in an intelligence update posted on the social platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Ukrinform reports.
This is in addition to expanding the bridgehead Ukraine has maintained near the ruined Antonivskyi Bridge since June 2023.
Some of these operations likely took advantage of a local Russian force rotation.
It is noted that skirmishes for control of small islands in the Dnipro estuary continued.
“Russian commanders face a dilemma of whether to strengthen this area or to deploy troops in the areas of Ukraine’s main counter-offensive operations, farther to the east,” the report says.
As reported by Ukrinform, British intelligence in its previous update said that the Russian Federation likely no longer finances the Wagner private military company.
