China denies report of armored vehicles handover to Russia

The spokesman addressed the issue at a briefing on Monday in response to an Ukrinform correspondent's request to comment on the report of the alleged receipt by a Chechen unit of a batch of armored vehicles from China and their subsequent transfer to Ukraine for the Russian war.

"I don't know where these so-called public testimonies come from (on the supply of military equipment from China to the Russian army - ed.). Our long-standing principle on the Ukraine issue is to always uphold an objective and fair position and be committed to promoting peace talks, not adding fuel to the fire or sending weapons to the battlefield,” Wang said.

He was appalled by the reports published by some media outlets about China’s alleged aid to Russia in the ongoing war, adding that the work of truly responsible media "must always be based on facts and be done objectively, honestly, and professionally."

As reported, a number of Ukrainian online media portals, in particular, Militarnyi, reported that the Akhmat, an ethnic Chechen unit with the Russian Guard, received eight armored vehicles produced by the Chinese company Shaanxi Baoji Special Vehicles Manufacturing, set to be deployed to the Ukraine battlefield.

This is the first case when it became known about the appearance of Chinese-made military equipment in the service of Russian units.
