Water receding in Oleshky community, Russians 'filtering' evacuees

Tetiana Hasanenko, head of the Oleshky city military administration, said this in a comment to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"On social media, the population reports on dead bodies - they write that they saw one dead person at one location, two more at another location, they report this to the hospital, but the hospital does not have the means to collect the dead," Hasanenko said.

According to her, about eight people are officially known to have died, and their bodies had been sent to the hospital. The search for people in the community is underway.

According to the territorial community, the water is receding, but the massive destruction of houses has begun, even where the water has receded completely. The situation in the village of Solontsi is critical.

There is not enough fuel for boats and power generators in Oleshky. Products are brought by boats from neighboring villages, and then locals help deliver them on boats and air mattresses.

According to residents of the community, the Russians offer evacuations for those who get to their buses. People are currently being taken to Radensk and Skadovsk. In Skadovsk, people are placed in boarding houses where they are subject to "filtration." There is evidence that Ukrainian passports are taken from those evacuated, the documents are returned selectively, and people are not allowed to leave their rooms.

Reports are circulating that water is contaminated, but the local population is afraid to leave, because it can be a one-way trip. People with both Russian and Ukrainian passports are allowed to leave, but Ukrainian passports are taken away and may not be returned.

On June 6, Russian troops blew up the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. The plant cannot be restored.
