In recent weeks, Russia has significantly increased cyber threat activity targeting Ukraine's partners.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand announced this in Ottawa.

"Since Russia's unjustified and illegal invasion of Ukraine began over one year ago, and especially in recent weeks, we have seen a noticeable rise in cyber threat activity by Russian-aligned actors targeting Ukraine's partners," Anand said.

She noted that this trend is observed all over the world and "Canada is no exception."

"These activities are a direct response to our steadfast support to the people and Government of Ukraine - and they will not deter Canada's support for Ukraine," the minister said.

According to her, this malicious cyber activity "is frequently directed at critical infrastructure networks and technology used to run vital sectors."

"Threat actors have also used strategically-timed Distributed Denial of Service attacks (DDoS) against government and business websites," Anand said.

During the visit of Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to Canada this week, Russian hackers managed to disable the official website of the Canadian prime minister for several hours. Technical problems were also recorded on the website of the Canadian Senate.
