Occupied Mariupol in dire need of doctors, medicines

Ukrinform
Mariupol, temporarily captured by the Russian military, is in dire need of doctors and medicines. Hospitals lack modern equipment.

"Healthcare is on the verge of collapse: Mariupol residents under occupation cannot receive the necessary medical care. There is a catastrophic shortage of doctors and medicines in the occupied city. There is no modern equipment in the hospitals because it was either destroyed or taken away by the Russians," the Mariupol City Council posted on Telegram.

The city council notes that locals cannot get normal medical care and vital medicines. In particular, residents of Mariupol report a lack of insulin. They are forced to look for it from volunteers. In addition, it is almost impossible to consult a doctor as they are few of them.

Residents also complain about non-payment of sick leaves and benefits to pregnant women. According to Mariupol residents, they have repeatedly appealed to the occupation authorities for half a year, hearing only excuses in response.

"This is the real ‘Russian world’. When people's lives and health are worth nothing. The human services will return to Mariupol together with the Ukrainian flag!" the city council emphasized.

As reported, Mariupol suffered one of the biggest humanitarian disasters caused by Russia's aggression. The city was almost 90% destroyed by enemy shelling. Invaders demolish damaged houses to hide the traces of their crimes.

Currently, more than 100,000 residents remain in the city. Hospitals are full of wounded Russian soldiers, while sick city residents are denied hospitalization.

The invaders turn Mariupol and the surrounding villages into a military-logistics hub for the Russian army.
