War update: Enemy making vain attempts to surround Bakhmut

This is stated in the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 18:00 on March 4 published on Facebook.

"During the day, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched 12 strikes on the enemy personnel and military clusters, two strikes – on enemy anti-aircraft missile system, and another one – on an enemy ammunition depot," the report reads.

During the day, the Russian troops launched four missile strikes, 10 airstrikes, and four MLRS attacks, in particular, on residential buildings and civilian infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions. Civilian casualties were reported.

The enemy focuses its main efforts on conducting offensive operations in Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Shakhtarsk directions, continues unsuccessful offensive operations in the area of Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Marinka, and Vuhledar.

In Volyn, Polissia, Sivershchyna, and Slobozhanshchyna directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly.

The enemy fired mortars and artillery on Bachivsk, Ulanove, Kucherivka, Bilokopytove, Starykove, Khodyne, Ryzhivka, Atynske, Holyshivske, Pavlivka, and Sadky in Sumy region; the areas of 22 settlements in Kharkiv region, including Hraniv, Hlyboke, Verkhnia Pysarivka, Hatyshche, Vovchansk, Vilcha, Bochkove, Vilkhuvatka, Dvorichanske, and Dvorichna.

In Kupyansk and Lyman directions, the enemy continued to go on the offensive near Nevske, Serebrianske forestry, and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, had no success.

The Russians fired artillery at the settlements near the contact line, in particular Hrianykivka, Kyslivka, Pishchane, Krokhmalne in Kharkiv region; Stelmakhivka, Nevske, Chervonopopivka, Bilohorivka in Luhansk region; Terny, Spirne, Fedorivka, Rozdolivka in Donetsk region.

In Bakhmut direction, Russian troops are making vain attempts to surround Bakhmut. During the day, Ukrainian defenders repelled numerous attacks near Vasiukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Dubovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, and Bakhmut in Donetsk region.

Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Zaliznianske, Dubovo-Vasylivka, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Kurdiumivka, Predtechyne, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Ozarianivka, Druzhba, and New York came under enemy fire.

In Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk directions, Russian troops unsuccessfully attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops near the settlements of Kamyanka, Severne, Vodiane, Pervomayske, Nevelske, and Krasnohorivka.

Artillery and mortar attacks were launched on the areas of more than 20 settlements, including Kamyanka, Avdiivka, Lastochkyne, Krasnohorivka, Nevelske, Marinka, Heorhiivka, Bohoyavlenka, Vuhledar and Vremivka.

In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy defends itself, trying to improve its tactical position to resume the offensive.

The invaders fired artillery at more than 30 settlements, including Malynivka, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mali Shcherbaky in Zaporizhzhia region; Chervonyi Mayak, Kozatske, Ivanivka, Antonivka, Inzhenerne, Kherson in Kherson region; Ochakiv in Mykolaiv region. Civilian casualties were reported.

To replenish the manpower which suffered huge losses, the enemy continues to carry out covert mobilization in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
