Ukraine's energy company Energoatom has denied reports spread by some Telegram channels that it allegedly lost control over radiation levels at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).

The company's press service said this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"In response to messages on some Telegram channels regarding Energoatom's loss of control over radiation levels at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, we inform you that this information is not true," the company said.

Energoatom assumed that radiation background measurement data could not be sent to the Center for Forecasting the Consequences of Radiation Accidents of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center for some time in the morning due to a failure of the internet connection.

On September 5, Energoatom announced that as a result of a fire caused by Russian shelling, reactor No. 6, which supplied the ZNPP's own needs, was unloaded and disconnected from the power grid.

According to Ukraine's Minister of Energy German Galushchenko, due to hostilities, it is impossible to repair power transmission lines at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
