Enemy focuses its main efforts on Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions
This is stated in the latest report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 18:00, August 22, published on Facebook.
"The enemy continues to focus its efforts on establishing full control over the territory of Donetsk region, maintaining the captured districts of Kherson, part of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions, restoring the combat capability of units that suffered losses, as well as preventing a possible counteroffensive of the Defense Forces. Air and missile strikes are launched on civilian objects in the territory of Ukraine," the report reads.
There are no significant changes in Volyn and Polissya directions. There is still a threat of missile and airstrikes launched from the territory and airspace of the Republic of Belarus.
In Siversky direction, the enemy continues to hold separate units of the Western military district in the border areas of Bryansk and Kursk regions to demonstrate the presence and constrain the actions of units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The Russians fired tube artillery on the areas of Senkivka and Mykolaivka in Chernihiv region and Katerynivka and Obody in Sumy region.
In Slobozhansky direction, the enemy conducts operations to improve its tactical position, taking measures to equip and replenish the losses of personnel and military equipment.
In Kharkiv direction, the enemy maintains a high intensity of UAV reconnaissance; fired on military and civilian infrastructure in the areas of Udy, Bazaliivka, Slobozhanske, Duvanka, Peremoha, Velyki Prokhody, Ruska Lozova, Lebyazhe, Mospanove, Husarivka, Ruski Tyshky; launched airstrikes near Staryi Saltiv, Verkhniy Saltiv, Pytomnyk, Mospanove, and Husarivka.
In Slovyansk direction, the Russian invaders opened fire from tanks, tube artillery, and MLRS near Krasnopillia, Mazanivka, Nova Dmytrivka, Chepil, Bohorodychne, and Kurulka.
In Kramatorsk direction, shelling of Siversk, Zakitne, Pereizne, Hryhorivka, Verkhniokamyanske, and Pryshyb areas was recorded. In the area of Krasnopillia, the enemy went on an offensive.
In Bakhmut direction, the enemy shelled military and civilian infrastructure near Kostiantynivka, Bakhmutske, Pidhorodne, Yakovlivka, Vesela Dolyna, and Bilohorivka. The invaders launched an airstrike on the positions of the Defense Forces near Soledar and missile strikes in the areas of Soledar and Kostiantynivka. The Russians assaulted the territories near Soledar, Kodema, and Zaitseve but failed.
In Avdiivka direction, Russian troops shelled the areas of Avdiivka, Oleksandropil, Marinka, Pervomayske, and Pisky with tanks and artillery of various types. The invaders launched airstrikes near Nevelske, Marinka, and Krasnohorivka. The enemy went on an offensive in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske.
In Novopavlivsk direction, enemy fire was recorded near Novomykhailivka, Yelyzavetivka, and Novoukrainka. The invaders went on an offensive in Novomykhailivka area, suffered losses, and retreated.
In Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy fired tube and rocket artillery and tanks in the areas of Huliaypole, Shevchenko, Charivne, Novosilka, Vremivka, Vilne Pole, Mala Tokmachka, Poltavka, Dorozhnianka. The Russians went on an offensive near Vremivka and Velyka Novosilka.
In Southern Buh direction, the enemy focuses its main efforts on holding the occupied positions, preventing the advance of the Ukrainian troops and firing on the Ukrainian units. The civilian infrastructure in the areas of Velyke Artakove, Mykolaiv, Andriivka, Posad-Pokrovske, Stepova Dolyna, Tavriyske, Bila Krynytsia, Partyzanske, Luch, Tokareve, Kamyane, Novovorontsovka, Poliana, Novooleksandrivka, and Liubomirivka localities came under fire. The airstrikes were launched near Andriivka, Olhyne, Trudoliubivka, and Potiomkyne, and missile strikes – on Mykolaiv and Zatoka.
As reported, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated about 45,400 Russian invaders from February 24 to August 22.
